Children's Rights Torbay work with children and young people, aged
ten and over, who are involved with Torbay Children's Services Dep[artment,
through the provision of:
- an advocacy service for children and young
people in Child Protection meetings
- an advocacy service for children and young
people who are looked after by the local authority
- support and representation for children
and young people who want to make complaints
- a consultation service
We work to ensure children and young people who are involved with Social Services are listened to and have their say.
HOW DO WE DO THIS
We support children and young people at their
LAC Reviews and Child Protection Meetings in many different ways, eg:-
- contacting young people prior to the
meeting, to talk about their wishes and feelings (what they really
want people to know)
- supporting young people who wish to attend
their Review or Child Protection Meeting (to ensure they have a voice)
- attend Reviews and Child Protection Meetings on behalf of young people
if they do not wish to go themselves (be their voice)
- negotiate on their behalf for changes
young people want made
